This is My Africa Project: Aims to provide a platform for changing the world’s view and narratives about the African continent by highlighting the achievements of young people, women, and men of African descent thriving in their chosen professions and vocations. This project captures innovative and ingenious programmes developed and implemented by Africans to deliver help and hope to those living in Africa and in the diaspora.

Ama Egwuliegu (Recreational Centre): Research shows that people who exercise regularly have lower blood pressure, lower heart disease rates, and overall increased longevity. Stress is one of the major challenges of most ethnic minority families. Documented evidence shows that people who regularly use recreation centres have lower stress levels than sedentary people. This centre offers programs that benefit both the body and the mind. The diverse range of activities within the centre boosts educational capability, confidence, mental health and other learning skills of users.

Igbo Women Association’s Football Unity Cup: To foster social inclusion and unity, Igbo Women Association organizes and promotes music and sports competitions between our community and the local community. sport transcends boundaries and provides opportunities for all human beings regardless of race, colour, religion, age, physical ability, circumstance or economic background, to connect with each other. The Unity Cup serves as a veritable tool to build active responsible and connected communities.

Poverty Reduction and Alleviation TrainingsThe ethnic minority communities in Glasgow and environs have high numbers of working poor families with less than £100 in savings. These households fall within groups that are already excluded from the financial system or “at risk” of financial exclusion. IWAG in collaboration with other community organizations provide trainings on a wide range of household poverty reduction services, including debt advice, savings opportunities, income maximisation and budgeting services.

We Are Igbos“: This project provides a series of Igbo cultural activities which help in promoting Igbo culture and serves as a means of educating our children and the public about our historical background and cultural values. Activities that fall within this project include:
1. Traditional news channel
2. Igbo traditional carnival showcasing various traditional Igbo dance, folk or choral music, traditional cuisine, traditional wresting, arts and crafts, Igbo traditional fashion show showcasing our various traditional outfits, traditional competitions to test our children’s understanding of our tradition and cultural values (Okpara Igbo & Ada Igbo competition)
